Whilst at university and learning studio work I was taught about a style called ‘badger lighting’ (I don’t know if this is the actual name but it stuck with me), I loved the results I got and found it a great way to photograph a person, and really get the most out of the eyes. When it comes to photographing out and about, I use my medium format Mamiya 6×7 and photograph the person in the surroundings they are comfortable in. I find it allows the person to relax which does come across, I feel, in the images.
